You Lookin' At Me?

Yes, yes we are looking at you, Miss Free- Range, Black- Angus Cow. We also took in some amazing views of the Kolob side, West temple and the 100 year old, untouched wheat fields. We did all of this via a Jeep tour. The girls got to ride in the "very" back (and then promptly fell asleep on the way out, LOL). We picked wild sage (apparently it's a weed in Utah like mint is for us in Vermont), got lots of pics and even learned about the pretty queasy history of Flying Monkey Test track... a jet testing facility sponsored by our Federal Government circa 1950. On a lighter note, the views at sunset were spectacular, better than we've seen all week here. Matt would also like to note that the Jeep Tour owner (Zion Jeep Tours) was a Baja racer sponsored by Jeep, co-developed tires with BF Goodrich and raced in the Rubicon.

We've also seen a lot of the park itself over the last few days via the super efficient and well run shuttle system and trails. The main park is very accessible- trails of all levels, many of them paved. We did one called the Weeping Rock trail which had about the steepness of our road, just much shorter- we felt right at home! :)

Unfortunately the Narrows was closed (this is a part of the river you can travel up for miles when the river is flowing less than 150 cubic feet per minute- and usually opens over Memorial Day. With all the snow and rain though, it hasn't gotten under 250 cfm yet this year!) but we did do the River Walk. We also did Lower Emerald Pool as dusk- where we had a male mule deer walk right up to us and the frogs sound like sheep!- Canyon Overlook in the morning, rode bikes on the Pa'rus trail and finally Weeping Rock.

We're heading south to Lake Powell tomorrow (Thursday) and will be offline for 4 or 5 days.
